RESOLUTION NO. 96 8Z
WHEREAS, on April 25, 1981, the Fourth Annual LITTLE MISS HONOKAA
pageant, sponsored by the Honokaa "Family Team," was held at the
Honokaa Armory; and
WHEREAS, the pageant, open to girls ages 5 and 6, is held to
support the Brantley Center who services the handicapped, mentally
retarded; crippled children and adults; and
WHEREAS, in preparation for the pageant, countless hours were
spent by Gloria Vinluan and Yolanda Fernandez in working with the
contestants, selecting the judges, distributing tickets and arousing
community support for this worthy project; and
WHEREAS, the contestants were judged for their talent, response
to questions, poise, personality and overall appearance; and
WHEREAS, the title of 1981 LITTLE MISS HONOKAA was bestowed
upon Jolene Lawrence; daughter of James and Jane Lawr.ence,of Paauilo.
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Miss Jolene Lawrence,
1981 LITTLE MISS HONOKAA, and wishes her a successful reign.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to send true copies of this resolution to
Jolene Lawrence; Honokaa "Family Team", pageant sponsor;
Gloria Vinluan; Coordinator; and Yolanda Fernandez, pageant assistant.
