WHEREAS; the American Red Cross undertakes to improve the quality
of human life by helping people avoid or prepare for emergencies and,
more importantly, to cope with them when they occur; and
WHEREAS, this world-wide renown organization plays a: vital°.role
in Hawaii by providing throughout our many communities such prggrams
as nursing and health care, first aid, personal safety, cardiopulmo=
nary resuscitation, water and small craft safety, services to.the
armed forces, and disaster relief; and
WHEREAS, such noble endeavors are made possible by the'contri-
bution of funds by many people and the invaluable assistance received
by countless volunteer workers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it commends the Hawaii State Chapter and the Pacific
Division of the American Red Cross for its dedication in its service
to humanity and urges the people of the County of Hawaii to support
this organization's Centennial Celebration Campaign for funds and
search for additional volunteer assistance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a true copy of this resolution be
remitted to John Henry Felix, Chairman of Hawaii State Chapter of the
American Red Cross, Centennial Activities, along with the Hawaii
County Council's commendation for its worthy efforts.
