RE: Presentation of Natural Farming
I am requesting one hour at the September 15°i Food and Energy Sustainability Committee
Meeting for a presentation by Dr. Hoon Park on natural farming.
The current trend in US agriculture is towards more biologically based practices, in the hope
that they may improve soil health and agricultural production and be less harmful to the
environment then their chemically intensive counterparts.
Natural farming is a method of farming which assumes that everything we need to grow our
own food is already all around us in abundance. Its foundation is cultivating the indigenous
microorganisms already here and incorporating them into our compost and soil. Lower costs,
higher yields healthier plants, less disease and complete Sustainability are all benefits of
natural farming.
