Esaki <br />Deputy Director <br /> r., <br /> u <br />. <br />-. <br />_1 <br />r <br />. <br />L?~7 <br />C r-~ ~. <br />T __ _ <br /> ''-, <br /> <br />-, i! <br />~ <br /> - <br />. <br />r <br />-_ ry <br />SUBJECT: DRAFT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES WITH THE UNITED STATES <br />DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, NATURAL RESOURCES <br />CONSERVATION SERVICE FOR FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THE DESIGN <br />OF THE KAUMANA DRIVE FLOOD PROTECTION PHASE OF THE <br />WAILUKU-ALENAIO WATERSHED. <br />Forwarded is a draft resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United <br />States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service (MRCS). The federal <br />government will provide funds for a professional service contract to design the Kaumana Drive <br />Flood Protection Phase of the Wailuku-Alenaio Watershed. The agreement will commit the County <br />to execute and manage a professional service contract for the subject project under the guidance, <br />technical assistance, and in concurrence with the NRCS. <br />Because federal funds will lapse at the end of this federal fiscal year, the Agreement for Services <br />must be executed no later than September 30, 2009. We therefore request waiving of committee <br />action, and directing this matter to the September 16a' County Council meeting. Your favorable <br />consideration of our request will be sincerely appreciated. <br />WA N H. W.
