RESOLUTION N0.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AM AGREEMENT WITH
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR COPS UNIVERSAL HIRING
SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of
Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, is desirous of
providing funding for expenses to implement more effective crime-fighting
strategies and to help meet this challenge, more police offieecs are needed on
the streets to provide the means to link citizens and law enforcement officers
in a partnership; anfl
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations for the Community Policing Program; and
WHBREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.

that the OfFice of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
U.S. Department of Justice OEflce of Community Oriented Policing Services.
B6 IT FURTHER RSSOLVBD that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
suthorizefl to sign the above-referenced agreement anfl any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
BB IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
