RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TH@ OFFICE OF TH@ MAYOR TO @NT@R INTO AN AGR6@!f@NT WITH
TH@ STAT@ D@PARTM@NT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A YOUTH
D@T@RR@NC@ GRANT.
WH@R@AS, the State Department of Transportation has authorized
funding to conduct DUI roadblocks specifically for youths drinking under the
minimum age in the County of Hawaii; and
WH@R@AS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations for the Youth Deterrence Grant; and
WH@R@AS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, TH@R@FOR@ B@ IT R@SOLV@D BY THS COUNCIL OF TH@ COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii, to enforce youth alcohol laws
in the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
B6 IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
