RESOLUTION N0. X59 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TH6 OFFICE OF THB MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A SOBRIETY
CHECKPOINT GRANT.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has authorized
funding to conduct DUI roadblocks in the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations for the Sobriety Checkpoint Grant; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THBRBFOR6 BB IT RESOLVED BY THS COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Nayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii, to conduct DUI roadblocks in
the County of Hawaii.
BB IT FURTHBR RBSOLVBD that the Hayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above--referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
BB IT FURTHBR RBSOLYBD, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
