Re: Operating Budget
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has been award a Victims of Crime Act Grant from
the State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General. These funds, derived from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will be used to provide assistance
services to victims of felony and misdemeanor violent crimes. These services include
counseling, referrals to community agencies, assistance with judicial proceedings, and
administration of funds used to provide direct services to victims.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General for the ARRA funding.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
the $99,567 into the Victims of Crime Act - ARRA account.

A. REQUEST:
1) Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $99,567 for the VOCA Recovery Act project.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been awarded VOCA ARRA funds from the State of Hawaii
Department of the Attorney General to continue to provide assistance to victims of crime. Funds will be used
to provide victim assistance services to victims of felony and misdemeanor violent crimes. Services to
include counseling, referrals to community agencies, assistance with judicial proceedings, administration of
funds used to provide direct services to victims, etc.
