RESOLUTION NO.16.~99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII FOR A YEAR 2000 PREPAREDNESS
GRANT.
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made available
grant funding to the Department of Defense, Civil Defense Division (State Civil Defense), to
support Y2K preparedness and community awareness; and
WHEREAS, State Civil Defense has $10,000 available for the County of Hawaii for a
grant through Mazch 31, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding may be used for the following purposes:
1. Planning for, and implementation of, public awareness and education
outreach campaigns.
2. Conduct local Y2K awazeness and prepazedness seminazs, conferences,
and meetings.
3. Conduct and participation in Y2K Tabletop and other exercises.
4. Printing of Y2K materials to support local Y2K outreach activities.
5. Preparing the local emergency management agencies in the use of the
unique Y2K Situation/Incident reporting system and database provided by
the Information Coordination Center through FEMA.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, that the County of Hawaii, through it's Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency, is
authorized to enter into an agreement with State Civil Defense, for the purposes described above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to
sign any agreement and related documents necessary pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the State of Hawaii Department of Defense,
Office of the Director of Civil Defense, and the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.
