WHEREAS, ~he Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region IX has made vailable a program option which permits the State Department of Defene, Civil Defense Division (State Civil Defense) to provide modest hurricane pro ram grants to county civil defense agencies; and WHEREAS, e enhancement of humcane preparedness and awareness is a key element in FE1~A's national hurricane mitigation goals; and WHEREAS, ~he Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency proposes to develop a citizens' brochure on disaster preparedness and awareness for the county; and WHEREAS, ~e State Civil Defense has agreed to provide $5,000.00 for the preparation ofsai brochure; NOW, THER FORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAW [I, that the County of Hawaii, through it's Hawaii County Civil Defense Agenc , is authorized to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department f Defense, Civil Defense Division, for the purpose of preparing a hurricane preparedness brochure, including the availability of alternative formats f persons with disabilities, BE IT FLIRTI~IER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign an agreement and related documents necessary to effectuate the purposes describ herein pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the State of Hawaii Department of Defense, Office of the Director of Civil Defense, and the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.
