Resolution
WHEREAS, the visitor business is a major industry in Hawaii
critically in need of vigorous promotion in order to maintain
it or to keep it from deteriorating; and
WHEREAS, other areas competing for a share of the world
visitor trade have successfully adopted and utilized industry -
building slogans such as: "I Love New York" and ".It's Better in
the Bahamas".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE.COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the slogan: "Happiness is Hawaii" be adopted and
its widespread use in visitor promotions be encouraged.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the use of the slogan be encouraged and promulgated
as widely as possible through the County's Department of
Research and Development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii forward copies of this resolution to the Administration
with the request that the suggestion be given serious consideration.
