Resolution
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that
any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of
funds from appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than
one fiscal year be approved by resolution of the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County is in dire need of suitable office space,
and adding to this problem is the transfer of the real property
tax administration function effective July 1, 1981; and
WHEREAS, suitable space in the former Kress Building on
Kalakaua Street in Downtown Hilo is available for rental purposes
for five years with an option to extend for another five years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that:
(1) It recognizes the problem of space constraints within
the County agencies;
(2) It authorizes the Administration to lease the space
available in the former Kress Building in Downtown
Hilo for County purposes for five years with option
for another five years; and
(3) Sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years
to cover the obligations of the County.
