HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 041 Draft 01 1980-1984County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, a healthy and viable visitor industry is vital to the continued growth and development of the Big Island; and WHEREAS, as the top money -earner and largest employer in the County, the visitor industry touches and affects almost every aspect of Big Island life; and WHEREAS, "Hawaii '82", billed as the largest tourist promotional effort ever mounted by the State of Hawaii, is designed to revitalize the State's softening visitor market; and WHEREAS, participation in the "Hawaii 182" promotion would enable the County of Hawaii to gain national and international exposure and to sell the idea that the "Big Island is Hawaii." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it requests the Department of Research and Development to set aside whatever funds that are necessary to participate effectively in the "Hawaii '82" promotion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such funds be allocated from the existing tourism promotional funds, G-1719, Tourism Promotion within the Department of Research and Development. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be trans- mitted to Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi and the Director of Research and Development Duane Black.
