Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3-14, Adoption of Pay
Plan, Hawaii County Charter, interim amendments to the
Salary Ordinance may be by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Section 3-4, Compensation; Salary Commission,
Hawaii County Charter, mandates that the salary of councilmen
shall be established by a salary commission; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3-4, Compensation; Salary
Commission, Hawaii County Charter, the Salary Commission
reviewed the salaries of the councilmen and the council
chairman and found that those salaries have not been adjusted
since 1975; and
WHEREAS, the Salary Commission determined that adjustments
to the salaries of the councilmen and the council chairman
were warranted and established the annual salary for each
councilman to be $18,225 and for the council chairman to be
$20,250, effective January 1, 1981,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended
for the County Council as follows:
"SEC. 8.01 COUNTY COUNCIL
"1. The pay grade for the council chairman shall be
changed, effective January 1, 1981, to $20,250.annual.
"2. The pay grade for each councilman shall be changed,
effective January 1, 1981, to $18,225 annual."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
be transmitted to the Hawaii County Salary Commission and to
the departments of Finance and Civil Service for their
information.'
