RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM (DBEDT), PURSUANT TO HRS 46-8, FOR A
FILM PROMOTION GRANT
WHEREAS, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 201-4, the
State of Hawaii, through its Department of Business, Economic Development,
and Tourism (DBEDT), may contract with qualified private and public agencies,
associations, firms, or individuals within or without the State in pursuance of
its duties and functions; and
WHEREAS, funding is made available to DBEDT pursuant to Act 116,
SLH 1998; and
WHEREAS, DBEDT desires to provide the County of Hawaii with such
funding for promotion of film and television production on the Big Island of
Hawai i, providing County resource services to production companies and
promoting the Big Island of Hawai i as a viable destination for filmmakers; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expand and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into
an Agreement with the Department of Business, Economic Development, and
Tourism, State of Hawai i, to promote film and television production in the
County of Hawai i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents
on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the State of Hawaii, Department of
Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; and the Depaztments of
Reseazch 8v Development and Finance.
