Council Chair and Members Hawai'i County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 126, reports as follows- Bill No 126, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No 476, dated August 6, 2009, amends Ordinance No. 09-64, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2010. The amendment is as follows. FROM: 3303.67 Federal Grants - DUI & Crash Reconstruction General $30,000 Traffic Safety Training TO: 010.271.5271.68 DUI & Crash Reconstruction Traffic Safety General $30,000 Training Grant TOTAL $30,000 These funds will be used to implement a project that includes: assignment of a deputy prosecuting attorney to be the Statewide Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor, providing statewide training for police and prosecutors, and for the participation at monthly statewide traffic commanders meeting. Last fiscal year, the State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation had awarded a $80,000 DUI & Crash Reconstruction Traffic Safety Training grant to the Hawai'i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. However, only $50,000 of the $80,000 total grant amount was appropriated in last fiscal year's budget To fully implement and complete this project, the Prosecutors Office seeks to appropriate the remaining $30,000 into this fiscal's budget, brining the total grant appropriation to $80,000. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawai'i County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the DUI & Crash Reconstruction Traffic Safety Training grant to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. There was no discussion on this measure. FC Rept.
