WHEREAS, on March 8, 1981, in Kailua-Kona, the National
Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE)l, Kona Chapter #1802,
will install their newly -elected officers and receive the charter of
incorporation from NARFE; and
WHEREASs, the Kona Chapter with its 23 charter members will be
the second chapter to be organized on the Big Island, and the
eleventh in the State of Hawaii, to become part of the over half
million members throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, the object of the association shall be to facilitate
the following objectives of NARFE:
(a) To sponsor and support legislation, rules and regulations
beneficial to the civilian public service annuitant;
(b) To oppose legislation, rules and regulations inimical to
the interest of the annuitants and potential annuitants;
(c) To promote the general welfare of annuitant and potential
annuitants;
(d) To serve and advice retired officers and employees with
respect to their right under civil retirement laws; and
(e) To cooperate with other organizations and associations
in furtherance of the general objectives of the NARFE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends congratulations to the officers and members
of the newly --organized Kona Chapter in receiving the Charter of
Incorporation and wishes thew success in fulfilling the objectives
of NARFE,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit a true copy of this resolution to H. Torn Bean, President of
the Kona Chapter #18020 NARFE.
