RESOLUTION N0. 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGR6EHENT WITH
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A BIG ISLAND
TRAFFIC SAFETY AWARENESS.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has authorized
funding to decrease fatal traffic accidents by conducting educational
presentations, doing projects with the community, airing monthly Public
Service Annoucements on the radio, and conducting speed enforcements; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations For the Big Island TrafFic Safety Awareness; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any Funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii, to decrease fatal traffic
accidents in the County of Hawaii.
B6 IT FURTHRR RRSOLYRD that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
B6 IT FURTHRR RRSOLVBD, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
