Resolution
WHEREAS, on February 16, 1977, the Council of the County of
Hawaii did approve a request for an appropriation of $13,000 to
implement Department of Parks and Recreation's plans for improvements
to a County -owned parcel (TMK 1-5-57:1) within the Hawaiian Paradise
Park Subdivision; and
WHEREAS, these minimum improvements were to provide restroom
facilities and a small picnic shelter at this oceanside site for
use by picnickers and fishermen alike; and
WHEREAS, community involvement and planned assistance by the
Hui Hanalike, the community organization of the Hawaiian Paradise
Park Subdivision, was assured to minimize construction costs; and
WHEREAS, the Administration has never formally appropriated
these funds for its project, perhaps awaiting more favorable
conditions; and
WHEREAS, with time, the estimated costs for this project have
surely risen to at least $15,000; and
WHEREAS, the Council is still supportive of this appropriation
and plans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it urges the Mayor of the County of Hawaii to initiate
the transfer of $15,000 for the implementation of this project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to
Mayor Herbert Matayoshi; Mr. Milton Hakoda, Director of Parks and
Recreation; and to the Hui Hanalike.
