WHERIaAS, 'the Colt Leaqua'World Serie-:s held in Lafayette, Indiana
from .August 11 - 18, 1981, is the climactic event that pits the best
baseball teams ih the �,Yorld for Mayers 15 -- 16 years'of age; and
WHE-n3MSF after defeatihq "the Indiana State Champion Evansville
i.h- the opener, the Hilo All --Stars went on to win over defending
;champion Puerto Rico to gain a slot in the championship' round; and
'WHEREAS, Hilo I's outstanding performance continued with back-to-
back victories over the U. S. Midwest Champions Bay City -of T+ Ichigan,
to,capture their second title in three years with an unblemished.

WHEREAS,` besides `taking ' the baseball title; the popular TTawaiaan
`teari •also captured the hearts' of.the fans at Lafayette with their
Spirit of Aloha and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, the new. Colt teaguc3 World Cham, --:Ions,, 'by virtue of their .`
accomplishments and performance on and off the field, have put Hilo
and the State of.Hawall.on 'the map in world sports;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT'RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL -OF THE couNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate the members and•
coaching staff of the Hilo Colt' All -Stars for their magnificent
performance in capturing the Colt League'World Championship for 1981.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the'Clerk of the County of;Hawaii
transmit true copies of this Resolution to Mr_ .Tames Correa, Coach
of the Hilo All -Stars, Mr. Alvin ilt-chaku, Business Manager, and to
Mr.. Royden Watanabe. President`o£ the Hilo Pony Colt Association.
