WHEREAS, the ,junior World Golf is an international Organization which

sportmanship through golfing among youths 9 to 17 years of age; and

WHEREAS, the 14th Optimist Junior World Golf Championship, held on

July 21--230 19819 in San Diego, attracted more than 700 participants from

50 states and 29 countries; and
WHEREAS, Fred Erskine Jr., of Honkaa, captured fifth place honors in
the 10 -year old and under division to lead the Hawaii State delegation.at
this year's Junior World Golf Championships; and

WHEREAS, his fifth place finish at the World Championship is a second

personal triumph for Fred Jr. following his tie for second places honors
during the State Junior Golf Tournament on Kauai in June.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that it commends Fred Erskine Jr. for his outstanding accomplishment at
the State and World Junior Golf Championships.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council takes this means to also wish

young Fred Jr. success in his future endeavors, be it golf or otherwise.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this Resolution,be trans-

matted to Fred Erskine Jr., his mother Linda Erskine and Mr. Jerry Meyer,
