RESOLUTION NO: 182 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF TWO (2) SCHWINN
POLICE MODEL BICYCLES WITH ACCESSORIES AND MAINTENANCE (FOR AONE-YEAR
PERIOD) AND TWO (2) POLICE UNIFORMS FROM THE WA[MEA COMMUMTY
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Association has donated two (2) Schwinn Police
Model Bicycles with accessories and maintenance (for aone-year period) and two (2) police
uniforms to the Hawaii County Police Department-Waimea Station; and
WHEREAS, the donation, with a value of Three Thousand Two Hundred Sixty Dollars
and No/100 ($3,260.00) will be used by the Hawaii County Police Department-Waimea Station;
and
WHEREAS, the equipment will have community benefits through its use by the
Community Policing Program, which patrols and fosters goodwill within the Waimea
community; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAH that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the
Hawaii County Police Department is authorized to accept the two (2) Schwinn Police Model
Bicycles with accessories and maintenance (for aone-year period) and two (2) police uniforms.
BE [T FURTHER RESOLVED that this donation will be assigned to the Hawaii County
Police Department-Waimea Station and that it be used for no other purpose than for the direct or
indirect benefit of the people in the Waimea community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this resolution to Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, the Chief of Police and the Hawaii
County Police Department-Waimea Station.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. Peter Young,
President of the Waimea Community Association at P.O. Box 2665, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743,
acknowledging this generous donation.
