Resolution
WHEREAS, the Young Men's Institute and the Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association are proposing a carnival, special attrac-
tions, and special merchandising events in the downtown Hilo area
during July 17, 18, and 19, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the Young Men's Institute and the Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association have requested that a moratorium on narking
meter feeding be declared on July 18, 1981, in conjunction with
these special events; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 8C, Article 17,
Chapter 6 of the Hawaii County Code, as amended, the County Council
may by resolution, dispense with the enforcement of parking meter
regulations for a specified period of time to accommodate special
attractions and events,
NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that a moratorium on parking meter enforcement is hereby
declared for July 18, 1981, on all County metered parking spaces.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this resolution to Mayor Herbert l\iata_voshi;
Chief of Police Guy Paul; Chief Engineer Edward Harada; Mr. Ronald
DeLima, Young Men's Institute; and Mr. Calvin Tunc,Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association.
