Resolution No. 114 s1
WHEREAS, there have been countless benefactors who have
expressed their philanthropy by enhancing the beauty and at-
tractiveness of Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii also recognizes
the continuing and commendable floricultural endeavors of the
Kona Outdoor Circle, Honua Hawaii's Community Beautification
Council and the Pepeekeo Senior Citizens Center; and
WHEREAS, service organizations from the Scouts, the Lions,
the Kiwanis, the Jaycees, and school service clubs continue to
participate and assist the County in "Clean Up, Fix Up, or
Paint Up" projects that improve and beautify our community and
facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii has appointed
his Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation, Mr. Hardy Iida, as
his Beautification Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii, deeply
appreciative of these private service offerings, finds that a
need exists to organize, continually coordinate, and maximize
all the assets and talents of the State, County and private
sector in a concerted beautification effort within the County
of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it urges the implementation of a beautification
campaign forthwith under the guidance of the Beautification
Coordinator, Mr. Hardy Iida; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this county -wide campaign be
appropriately named "HO'ONANI HAWAI'I", which when translated
means "to
beautify
Hawaii";
and
BE
IT FURTHER
RESOLVED
that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be directed to transmit copies of this resolution to
Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mr. Hardy Iida, the Kona Outdoor
Circle, the Community Beautification Council, and to the Pepeekeo
Senior Citizens Center.
