WHERLAS, the 2nd Annual Golden Goddess Fishing; Tournament
was field in Kailua-Kona on May 16 and 17, 1931; and
W14EREAS, the tournament featuring women anglers attracted a.3
teams comprised of nearly 120 wahine anglers competing for $11,000
in prize money; and
:WHEREAS, participants have come from distant Mainland cities
which clearly attests to Kona's development as the Deep-sea Sports
Fisl.ing Capital of the World; and
W11HEREAS, championship sport -fishing tournaments, such as the
Golden Goddess, provides the County with a different breed of
visitor and does have positive effects upon our tourism efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it extends its wariaest Aloha to Western Sports
Tournaments, hosts of the Golden. goddess tournament, and wishes its
continued and even greater success in the coming years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVFD that the Clerk send true copies of this
resolution to Mr. Bob Jablonski and AIr. George Molholm, co-chairmen
of the Golden Goddess Fishing Tournament.
