WHEREAS, Al Manli-guis, a legend among Big Island Prep Basketball
coaches, will be honored at a testimonial on it�-Iay 31, 1981, in his
hometovm, of,Ello, Hawaii,- and
WHEREAS, the event, featured as "t1 Tribute to Al Manli.guis--25
Years of Coaching Iiigh School Basketball", is in response to the
respect .And admiration of sports fans everywhere for the local boy
who made good as a player and as an coach of high school basketball; and.
vTjlEi~.EAS, in 1947 and 1948 as a prepster at Hilo I3igh School,
Al Manliguis prevailed as an All-Star performer and as the Territorial
Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player in 1948; and
'vJHEREP.S, during his four years
a starter of the Ralnbo[i7 Basketball
Player Award as a Senior; and

WHEREx.S, the accomplishments of Al manli-guis as a high school
coach is no leas inpressive with a record of more than 500 wins to ,lis

WHEREAS, the Players who were fortunate to play under Al Manliguis
during his 25 years of coaching on the Uig Island have benefited
by his tireless and unselfish efforts in his development of the overall
student -player.

HZ).WI 11 that it joins all Big Islanders in congrattilating Coach Al Manliguis
for 25 years of dedicated service to the youths of the twig Island and
to prep basketball.
BE IT FURTHER. RESOL'E'D that the Council extends its best wishes to
Coach Al T5aniiguis for an equally ;successful future.
BE IT F'UIR'R ER RESOLVED that: a true cony of this resolution be
presented? to Coach Al LAianllcguis at his testimonial on May 31, 1981,
and a copy be forwa-rued to fAs emnlo_yer and alma muter, Hilo High School.
