A RESOLUTION CREATING AONE-WAY TRAFFIC PATTERN ON
KAPIOLANI STREET ON CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS
DAY, DECEMBER 24 AND 25, 1999.
BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COl1N"I'Y OF
HAWAII:
WHEREAS, the Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church will be
holding special services during the Christmas Vigil; and
WHEREAS, the Christmas Vigil is an important and significant
event in the Christian religion during which the birth of Jesus Christ is
recognized; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church has
requested that a temporary one-way traffic pattern be created on Kapiolani
Street from Waianuenue Avenue to Ponahawai Street in the Puna direction
to ease traffic congestion and to ensure the safety of the attendants of these
services; and
WHEREAS, the desired dates and times for this one-way traffic
pattern are from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., December 24 -25, 1999, and from
5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 25, 1999; and
WHF,REAS, pursuant to Section 24-10 of the Hawaii County
Code, 1983 (1995 Edition), the Chief of Police is empowered to make and
enforce temporary regulations to cover special conditions, and to post
signs pertaining thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL
OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Chief of Police is hereby
requested to establish this special one-way traffic pattern on Kapiolani
Street from Waianuenue Avenue to Ponahawai Street in the Puna direction
on December 24 and December 25, 1999, at those times mentioned above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police is also
requested to provide a notice of this special traffic pattern to be published in a
daily newspaper of general circulation of the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to the Chief of Police, the Fire
Department, the Department of Public Works, St. Joseph Roman Catholic
Church, the Haili Church, the Glad Tidings Church and to the Seventh-Day
Adventist Church.
