Resolution No. 206-09 - CIP Priority List - State Funding
Pursuant to discussion at the July 7, 2009 meeting of the Public Works and Intergovernmental
Committee, I would like to submit my recommendation for a priority capital improvement
project. Our number one priority should be a project that will benefit the county as a whole,
rather than a particular district.
The University of Hawai'i at Hilo is expanding its campus along an area designated as the
Kapiolani Street extension.
This roadway will serve as a connector road for the university area and Mohouli Street. It will
allow safe traverse to and from the University, Hospice ofHawai'i, and the Kamana elderly
housing project, and other residential areas, as well as child care facilities, military and church
facilities.
Therefore, I submit the Kapiolani Street Extension as my top priority project for state funding. It
will benefit all of the residents of our county.
Please place my recommendation on the appropriate agenda in a timely manner.
