RESOLUTION NO. 105 81
WHEREAS, Father Richard Kardian will be honored on June 14, 1981,
by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Papaikou, in commemoration
of his Silver Jubilee Anniversary In the Priesthood; and
WHEREAS, Father Kardian was first ordained as a Maryknoll Father
on June 9, 1956, in New York City and in his twenty-five years, has
served in parishes in Japan (1956-19743, St. Joseph's Church of Hilo
(1974-1976)6 St. John's parish of Honolulu (1976-1978), and since
1978 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Papaikou; and
WHEREAS, during his relatively short stay on the Big Island,
he has won esteem and endearment from his parishioners as well as
others for his diligence and devotion, as he was respc,"nsible for the
establishment and the sustaining of the important Parishioners'
Councils for both the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and the Good
Shepherd Church of Honomu; and

WHEREAS, under Father Kardian's leadership, guidance and
inspiration he .serves as the Spiritual Director for the Filipino
Catholic Club, the Catholic Men's Club and Sacred Heart Society .of
the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
NOW, TkEREFORE', BE IT RESOLVED BY THE' COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OP
HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Father. Richard Kardian
upon the occasion of his Silver Jubilee Anniversary, alone with its
wishes for his continued and valued services to the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to
Father Richard Kardian; the Most Reverend John J. Scanlan of -the
Catholic Diocese of Honolulu; and to Mr.. 'Ped Andrada, President of
the Papaikou Catholic Club; and Mr. & Mrs. Norman Washington,
5702 Thoreau Drive, Parma, Ohio, 44129.
