RESOLUTION NO. 19O 2~C
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE
THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR KA'U LEARNING CENTER TO CONTINUE THE COMMUNITY-BASED
DELINQUENCY PREVENTION GRANT PROGRAM IN KA'U.
WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Services has provided funding to
the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation, through federal funds from Title V Juvenile Delinquency
Prevention, through atwo-year grant to continue acommunity-based delinquency prevention program in Ka'u; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation is ready and willing to continue the
"Kokua Ka'u Project" through Ka'u Learning Center, umbrella for The Ka'u Council; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County that the organization enter into amulti-year contract; and
WHEREAS, Article X, Section ]0-1 I, of the Hawaii County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall
be made or approved by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that in
accordance with Article X, Section 10-11, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii or his
authorized representative is hereby authorized to execute amulti-year contract requiring the payment of funds of a later
fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forwazd copies of this Resolution to
said Mayor Yamashiro, the Director of Parks and Recreation, and any other interested governmental agencies.
