RESOLUTION NO, 2Z2 81
WHEREAS, the Lehua Jaycees was formed as an extension chapter of
the Milo Jaycees and received its charter of organization as a member
of the United States Jaycees in 1965; and '"
WHEREAS, as a mudding organization in search of an identity, the
Lehua Jaycees underwent several stages of development from which emerged
the characteristically independent and professional organization that it
is today; and
WHEREAS, through the years, the Lehua Jaycees has conducted numerous
programs and community projects geared to building the young leaders of
tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, among the outstanding community projects undertaken by the
Chapter during the past 16 years were the following:
1. Miss Aloha Hawaii Beauty Contest
2. Fourth of July Fireworks Display
3. Fourth Fest
4. Carole Kai,Bed Race
S. Senior Citizens Christmas Party.
6. Daisy BB -Gun Shooting Education Program
7. Li3iuokaiani Park 'Beautification Project; and
WHEREAS, the Lehua Jaycees have always adhered to the: Jaycees'
Creed that "Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life." -
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to express its fondest Mahalb,to the
Lehua-Jaycees for their continuing effort to enhance the City,of Lilo
and enrich the lives of Hiloans.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the:Council duly recognizes the Lehua
Jaycees -to be among the most outstanding community service.organizations
on the Big Island.
