RESOLUTION N0. 197 215.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL CRIME
PREVENTION AND JUSTICE ASSISTANCE DIVISION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7,
FOR A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UNIT.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Attorney General Crime
Prevention and Justice Assistance has authorized funding for
expenses to purchase equipment and training of officers to
improve the law enforcement response to domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready
and willing to proceed with it's obligations for the Domestic
Violence Unit Grant; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7,
requires that county departments obtain the consent of the
Council to enter into agreement with the federal or state
governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the
powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive and funds or
other assistance in connection with projects being or to be
undertaken pursuant to those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to
enter into an Agreement with the Department of the Attorney
General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division, State
of Hawaii, to assist with Domestic Violence Cases.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of
Hawaii is authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and
any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and
the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk of the
County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
Finance Department and Police Department.
