RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFN'i CF: UN' 1'HE MAYOR '1'U ~:N1't:R i\'fU AN ACltk~kdlENT WlTi
THL+ UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR ALCOHOL
PREVENTION.
WHEREAS, the University of Hawaii at Manoa has authorized funding to
increase youth awareness of the negative ramifications of alcohol consumption
by youth who gather in large groups in public areas in the community and
decrease alcohol offenses by teens; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations for the Alcohol Prevention Grant; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any Funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii, to decrease alcohol consumption
by teens in the County of Hawaii.
66 IT FURTHBR RBSOLVBD that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Hayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
B6 IT FURTHBR RBSOLVBD, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
