Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication No. 486, regarding Resolution 226-09, reports as follows: Resolution 226-09, transmitted by Council Member Dennis Onishi, via Communication No. 486 dated August 17, 2009, urging the Hawaii State Board of Education to move the Keaukaha School Cafeteria Project into the Top Ten on The Department of Education CIP Allotment Priority List. There was testimony from members of public, including two sixth grade students, in support of the proposed resolution. Committee Chair Brenda .1. Ford relinquished her seat to Committee Vice Chair Kelly Greenwell. Mr. Onishi provided pictures of Keaukaha School Cafeteria and commented that overcrowded, dilapidated conditions violate fire safety and OSHA regulations. Furthermore, improper food preparation due to space limitations, obsolete equipment, and cramped and deteriorated working conditions is an unhealthy and dangerous environment for the children and school employees. He seeks the support of his colleagues on this proposed resolution.
