HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 209 Draft 01 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 209 00. A RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH. WHEREAS, March 2000 is the fourteenth annual National Women's History Month; and WHEREAS, the theme of [his year's National Women's History Month is "AN EXTRAORDINARY CENTURY FOR WOMEN-NOW, IMAGINE THE FUTURE"; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women is sponsoring a "Real Women" Creative Writing Competition for students islandwide in grades 5 through 12; and WHEREAS, the essay contest increases awareness of The many different ways that women made history in Hawaii and fosters pride in the outstanding accomplishments of women in Hawaii. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it recognizes the courage and countless contributions of women who made history throughout the United States and especially on the Island of Hawaii during the celebration of March 2000 as Women's History Month. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to Ms. Cindy Hara, Chairperson and Essay Coordinator ,and to the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women, along with the Hawaii County Council's best wishes for success and recognition deserving of their worthy contributions.
