Dear Chairman Yoshimoto:
RE: Request for scheduling of executive session for the purpose
of discussing the hiring of special counsel to assist the
Corporation Counsel in bond issues in the Hokuli'a case
Pursuant to Sections 92-4 and 92-5(a)(4), Hawaii Revised Statutes, as
amended, and Article VI, Chapter 5, Section 6-5.5, Hawaii County Charter 2000
(2008 Edition), the Office of the Corporation Counsel respectfully requests the
scheduling of an executive meeting on October 7 or 21, 2009, for the purpose of
discussing with the Council the hiring of special counsel specializing in bond
work to assist Corporation Counsel attorneys in the Hokuli'a litigation.
A letter detailing the findings of the committee assigned to review all
special counsel applications and make recommendations will be forwarded to the
Council under separate confidential and privileged cover.
