Aloha Dominic,
Thank you for your presentation at the Peoplels Theatre last night, and for
all your efforts on our behalf. We have sent the following message to all
members of the Council:
Aloha (Council Memberls Name),
As part owners of Hawaiils public lands, by virtue of being Big Island
residents and taxpayers, we strongly urge you to ensure that all sales of
County lands shall be reviewed and approved by you and the other members of
the County Council before becoming effective.
Mayor Kenoils interest in selling Hamakua land may be well motivated and
fiscally prudent. However, history shows that there is no assurance that
every future land sale by every future Mayor will be in the publicls best
interest, unless a mechanism is in place to guarantee that the owners
(citizens) are represented by their elected representatives including you.
Council approval should be the final step in completion of any arrangement
to irrevocably sell our lands.
Thank you for standing up for what is right, both in the present matter and
for future generations.
