STATE OF HAWAI'I
RESOLUTION NO. 248 09
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF
$1,000 TO THE HAWAI'I FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Hilo, as part of their "Community Grant" program, has donated $1,000 to
the Hawai'j Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used to purchase educational materials relating to fire and injury
prevention and will be distributed to the public during Fire Prevention Week, Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) Week, and throughout the year at other public events; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai'i Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, the Council of the
County of Hawai'j accepts the $1,000.
BE IT 'FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent
to Mr. Terrance Crowley, Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawai'i 96720,
acknowledging this generous donation.
