RESOLUTION N0. 231 00
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREBlIBNT WITH
THB UNIVBRSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR COMM POL-ALCOHOL
PRBVBNTION.
WHEREAS, the University of Hawaii at Manoa has authorized funding to
conduct covert operations to decrease the means of which juveniles obtain the
alcohol; and
WHSRBAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations for the COPS-Alcohol Pcevention Grant; and
WHBRBAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THBRBFORB BE IT RSSOLVBD BY THS COUNCIL OF THS COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii, to decrease the purchase and
consumption of alcohol by teens in the County of Hawaii.
BS IT FURTHBR RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the OfFice of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
B6 IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and
Police Department.
