If these lands are listed as an asset on the County Books, it may be that they cannot be
sold but only used for trade or exchange for equal property.
It is not prudent to sell assets to reduce budget shortfalls. Renting or leasing the
asset brings in continual funding. Selling assets in an economic downturn is unwise in
any situation, you all have heard the phrase - don't sell the family farm. If you approve
sale, this is what you are doing, reducing the asset of the County.
IF you do support the sale, then it should be offered with conditions and residents of the
County should have first right of refusal to purchase the lands.
