HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 236 Draft 01 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 236 00 RESOLUTION DELETING A FAIR HOUSING OFFICER 1 / 2T AND CREATING A SECRETARY POSITION WHEREAS, the Office of Housing and Community Development was assigned to administer the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for the County of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, WIA also requires the creation of a local workforce investment board (LWIB) and a local youth council (LYC); and WHEREAS, the WIA program is anticipated to run for at least five years, therefore, short-term contracts are not considered; and WHEREAS, with the addition of the new WIA program and 200 new Welfare-to-Work Housing Vouchers, an increase in staff is needed to provide technical and administrative services to the LWIB and the LYC, as well as administer the WIA program; and WHEREAS, with the addition of the 32-member LWIB and the 30+ member LYC, a secretary is needed to coordinate and arrange meetings, take and transcribe minutes, prepare verbatim transcripts, prepare and distribute agenda for LWIB meetings; and WHEREAS, the federal WIA program will fund this position as well as cover expenses for furnishings and equipment; and WHEREAS, it would be more beneficial to the Office of Housing and Community Development to delete the Fair Housing Officer 1/2T, which has not been allocated, and to create a Secretary SR-18, position; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Fair Housing Officer 1 / 2T, SR-20, be deleted, and a Secretary, SR-18, position be created. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Finance and Civil Service and the Office of Housing and Community Development.
