RESOLUTION NO. 24'7 00
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR A VOTING AND VOTE COUNTING
SYSTEM FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII OFFICE OF ELECTIONS, THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU, THE COUNTY OF KAUAI
AND THE COUNTY OF MAUI.
WHEREAS, State Chief Election Officer and the Association of Clerks and Elections
Officials of Hawaii has determined that a voting and vote counting system is desirable and
necessary for the citizens of the State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, on November 26, 1999, the State Procurement Office advertised a
Request for Proposals (RFP-00-050-SW) for a voting and vote counting system for the state
and counties of the State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, proposals were received and opened on February 3, 2000 by the State
Procurement Office and an evaluation committee has met to review all proposals; and
WHEREAS, upon award of the contract, each county and the state must execute the
contract by the end of fiscal year 1999-2000; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient monies in the Clerk/Council budget to fund the
County's portion of the contract; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 13-13(c) of the Hawaii County Charter, the mayor
must sign the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it authorizes the mayor, on behalf of the County of Hawaii, to execute the
contract for a voting and vote counting system for the State and Counties of the State of
Hawaii.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit copies
of this resolution to Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro.
