Dear Council Members:
Re: In Support of Palamanui 's Requests
We at KTA Super Stores have been supporting the efforts of Palamanui and the Hawaii
Community College, West Hawaii Center, University of Hawaii, to relocate the West Hawaii
Center to a permanent home next to the planned Palamanui Village Development.
The Hawaii Island community as a whole will greatly benefit from this relocated campus
and the subsequent growth of higher education in this convenient location in West Hawaii.
Our island greatly needs trained graduates and we all know higher post high school
education does wonders for all people interested in being able to move ahead in our
changing and challenging world.
We also support Palamanui's request for certain Zoning Ordinance modifications and urge
your serious consideration of them. While the original ordinance was approved during a
great economic climate, these are tough times and we understand their need to defer some
of their heavy upfront costs until some progress is made on Phase One of the project.
Phase One will include construction of the main road from Queen Kaahumanu Highway to
the Village Center and the Community College, and a new road connecting that area with
Kaiminani Drive.
