RESOLUTION NO. 254 00
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF ATTORNEY GENERAL CRIME
PREVENTION AND JU8TICE A88ISTANCE DIVISION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A
CLANDESTINE DRUG RESPONSE PROGRAM GRANT.
WHEREAS, the State Depaztment of Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance has authorized funding to enhance the ability of the Hawaii County Police
Department to conduct aggressive, comprehensive and coordinated law enforcement
activities to detect, identify, access, and counter or neutralize clandestine drug
manufacturing laboratories by training officers and purchasing the proper equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed
with its obligations under the Clandestine Drug Lab Response Program Grant; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal
government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawai i providing
the expenditures or receipt of funds or for other assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby autr~orized and designated to
sign in the name of the County, which will effectuate these purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RE30LVED that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of Police, and any other
interested governmental agencies.
