The grant is intended to provide increased transportation service for working commuters and for those seeking employment. The grant will be used to fund operating costs to establish additional routes and frequency of bus service, which include additional weekday and weekend service. The Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency had submitted two separate applications for the funding and this resulted in one grant award of $312,716. Funding for this grant program is derived from the Federal Transit Administration. Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the grant award to the Mass Transit account. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Mass Transit Office. Nancy l Crawford Director of Finance Enc. cc: Mass Transit Comm. No. S_G4 QiP.3•'~q j BI I~ (5q~ Ref.
