RESOLUTION NO. 268 00
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE
THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR AMULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR TWO (2) COPY MACHINES
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year be approved by
resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into amulti-year lease with the purchase
option for five (5) years for a high volume copy machine for the Recreation Division office located at
1690 Kamehameha Avenue, in Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into amulti-year lease with the purchase
option for five (5) years for a small volume copy machine for the Waimea Community Center located
at 65-1260 Kawaihae Road, in Kamuela, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, due to the increased downtime caused by the present aging equipment, the
division has had to tolerate many lost man-hours due to machine malfunction; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of these machines will reduce downtime, thereby improving
productivity and efficiency of employees and cost savings for the County; and
WHEREAS, by entering into amulti-year lease with the purchase option, the monthly rate
would be approximately $60 less.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement with purchase
option for the acquisition of two (2) copy machines for the Department of Parks & Recreation.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligation of the
County under the terms of the agreement.
