RESOLUTION NO. j69 (1~'1
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Millennium Commission has donated $25,000 to be used by the Department of Parks
and Recreation to support various projects throughout the island of Hawaii to celebrate the Millennium; and
WHEREAS, the money will be used to support activities such as the Honoka'a Millennium Celebration, the Ko-
hala Millennium Celebration, a Continental Harmony Concert, the Puerto Rican Cultural Centennial Dance, Centennial
Day Picnic and Jam Session, Hula Fest 2000, Kamehameha Day Celebration, Okinawan Hari Boat Races, and a New
Year's Eve Celebration; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of
the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that in accor-
dance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Department of Parks & Recreation is author-
ized to accept the monetary donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to John Waihee and Lynne Madden, Co-
Chairs, Hawaii Millennium Commission, Ward Wazehouse, 1050 Ala Moana Boulevard, 2nd Floor, Honolulu, Hawaii
96814, acknowledging this generous donation.
