RESOLUTION NO. 284 00
RESOLUTION CREATING A MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION CLERK I FOR
THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE, TREASURY DIVISION, FOR WEST HAWAII
WHEREAS, the Kona car dealers, Kona U-drives and West Hawaii community are taking
advantage of the services provided at the Kona facility; and
WHEREAS, this office has seen an increase in monthly transactions of 10% in the year 2000
over 1999; and
WHEREAS, having four (4) employees in the office would assure that daily collections are
balanced and deposits ready for pickup by Loomis Armored Car Service, thereby limiting loss
exposure on undeposited collections; and
WHEREAS, by creating another Motor Vehicle Registration Clerk I, SR-13 position, there
should be sufficient staff to support its present function; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai i County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Department of Finance Accounts Division
Regular Salaries and Wages account 010-121-5122.01-011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that one (1) Motor Vehicle Registration Clerk I, SR-13 position be created in the
Department of Finance, Treasury Division.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $15,384, be transferred from the Accounts Division account
010-121-5122.01-011 into the Treasury Division Regular Salaries and Wages account 010-121-5124.01-
011.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments
of Finance and Civil Service.
