Subject: Bill 137
Importance: High
Aloha Chair Yoshimoto and Council Members!
Some time age many were pleased to witness Palamanui abandon the golf course subdivision
for a community village development even
before the Kona CDP was approved. I can only guess that the
architects and planners saw that they could make good money this way with the full support
of the Kona community. (There was considerable opposition to the golf course subdivision
including possible contamination of ground water.)
When the Kona CDP became law it called for just such villages.
Financing this village is impossible just now but how about in two or three years when the
recession has abated?
Council Member Ford's amendments. makes a lemonade out of this lemon by keeping the major
framework in place until this recession has lessened. If the community village development
was good business when it was proposed, it will be again in time.
I urge you to fully support Bill 137 with the proposed amendments from Council Member Ford
dated September 15, 2009. Otherwise, oppose bill 137.
Sincerely,
Duane Erway
