Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 256-09
I would like to propose the following amendments to allow community input regarding
Resolution 256-09.
The amendments are as follows:
l.Insert new language after the 8th WHEREAS:
"WHEREAS, due to the short notice of the Kulani Correctional Facility closure. the
surrounding community has not been given a chance to submit input to this lease and the Council
desires to give the community this opportunity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED. that Hawai'i Community Correctional Industries will
be allowed to occuPy the premises with equipment and furniture. however. Hawai'i Community
Correctional Industries shall not employ inmates on the premises until receiving notice by the
Hawai'i County Council Chairperson after the community meeting has been conducted."

2. Correct a typographical error in the final "Be it ...Resolved":
BE IT [FURTHER] FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the County of Hawai'i
shall transmit copies of this resolution to: (1) Mayor William P. Kenoi; (2) Finance Director
Nancy Crawford; (3) Deputy Corporation Counsel Craig T. Masuda; and (4) Hawaii Correctional
